Peter Lowndes Consulting Engineer (PLCE) was founded in 2007 to provide civil/structural design services across the building and civil sector to assist clients in both the private and government sectors.
Our consultancy has a broad range of capability with a specialty and extensive depth of experience in design of bridges and associated civil works.
We offer our clients a range of consulting engineering services across the civil and structural sectors with a focus on providing engineering solutions that are cost effective and buildable and will provide our clients with safe, functional assets that meet the project needs.
We strive to engage with our clients to ensure that innovative, cost effective and fit for purpose solutions are identified and incorporated into our projects.
Our engineering staff have extensive industry experience with technical competence and operational experience.
Our design engineers have many years' operational experience within the bridge and precast/prestressed concrete component industry and bring vast practical knowledge to the design table.
We endeavor to leverage our experience to ensure that our clients get maximum value for their construction dollars.
Services we provide
We use 3D design processes for all our work to facilitate enhanced modelling and analysis of structures. The extra time and effort invested in these processes facilitates better constructability and minimization of construction issues. Significant capital and maintenance cost savings can result.

Our latest work/projects (2025)
Tatham Bridges - Spring Gully & Deep Creek - Richmond Valley Council (Contractor: Quickway )
Partnering with Quickway we were able to successfully tender an alternate design for these bridges providing the Client with an alternate design saving over $2M compared with the conforming tender design previously prepared by others.
Mahons Bridge - Lockyer Valley Regional Council (Contractor: CPM Civil)
Working with the principal contractor we were able to develop a design solution for the replacement of Mahons Bridge that was within the clients budget and provided a number of improvements to the road network.
Patrick Estate Road Bridge - Somerset Regional Council (Contractor: CPM Civil)
Working with the principal contractor we were able to develop a design solution for the replacement of Patrick Estate Road Bridge that provided maximum improvement at the site within the clients budget and provided for further future improvements to be made to the road as improvement funds become available.
